Gurushanthamurthy, Practice Head – Microsoft Dynamics in DreamOrbit, which specializes in developing software for Logistics & Supply chain industry, talks about the Deployment Options for Dynamics Navision 2013.
There are three deployment options available for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 :
- On Premise
With this option software is installed on the Server which is available in your premises. Ongoing maintenance of software and hardware which includes upgrades, service packs, backups and disaster recovery plans has to be managed by you.
- Partner Hosted
Microsoft Dynamics NAV can be hosted and managed by a third-party and licenses are purchased through the SaaS licensing model. Customers do not have to maintain their IT infrastructure and the staff associated with traditional on-premises implementations. They pay for their ERP solution on a per-user, per-month basis using operational expenditure instead of capital expenditure.
- Microsoft Hosted
Microsoft’s new plan is to make NAV 2013 available on Azure sometime in the first quarter of calendar 2013. Once it is hosted on Azure, the product still will be sold through NAV 2013 partners. It is similar to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online model.
